程  歗 (程虎啸）  1938年12月出生于安徽省休宁县，1960年毕业于中国人民大学中共党史系，1961年开始从事中国近代政治思想史的教学与研究。现任中国人民大学国际关系学院政治学系教授，博士生导师，院属政治思想文化研究所所长。兼任中国义和团研究会副会长、北京市日本学研究中心客座教授等职。主要研究方向为中国近代政治思想史、中国民间文化。

主要著作有《晚清乡土意识》（中国人民大学出版社，1990年，1999年重印）；合著与合作主编主要有：《义和团文献辑注与研究》（天津人民出版社，1985年），《义和团运动史研究》，（齐鲁书社，1988年），《近代中国灾荒纪年续编》（湖南教育出版社，1993年），《中国近代十大灾荒》（上海人民出版社，1994年），《近代中国思想的历程》（中国人民大学出版社，1999年）等。

从80年代中叶起，多次参加由中日学者联合组织的中国华北地区农村调查，主要成果收在由日本学者佐佐木衛主编的《近代中国社会和民众文化》（日本东方书店，1992年）、《中国村落结构和当代变迁》（日本东方书店，2002年）等调查报告中。

发表学术论文近百篇，如《民间宗教与义和团揭帖》（《历史研究》，1983年第2期），《拳民意识与民俗信仰》（《中国社会科学》，1991年第3期），《关于近代中国百年思潮的几点思考》（《教学与研究》，1997年，第12期），《社区精英的联合和行动》（《历史研究》，2001年，第1期），《口述史三题》（《河北学刊》，2002年，第1期）等。

Cheng Xiao 

Cheng Xiao was born in Xiuning,Anhui,in December,1938.After graduated from History of CCP Department in Renmin University of China in 1960,he began his teaching and research on Political Thought and Folk culture of modern china.Now,being a full professor and advisor of doctor in Politic Department ,he is as well director of  Political Thought and Culture Research Institute of International  Relationship  School in Renmin University of China.In the meantime,he is the vice president of Chinese Association of Boxes Movement and guest professor of Japanese Research center of Beijing. Main majors are Political Thought and Folk culture of modern china. 

Main works include Folk Culture in Late Qing Dynasty, first published in 1990 and reprinted in 1999 by Renmin University Press. Main publications cooperated with others or as a editor in chief include Compilation、Annotation and Research of Boxes movement’s Documents,Tianjin Renmin Press 1985,Study on Boxes movement,Qilu press 1988, Sequel of Annals of Famine in Modern China,Shanghai Renmin Press 1994,The History of Political Thought modern china, Renmin University Press 1999. 

Since the middle of 1980s,he has attended the investigation co-organized by Chinese and Japanese scholars in north china rural.Main achievements of the investigation have been published in Japan ,such as Society and  Folk culture of Modern China, edited by Japanese scholars Zuozuo Muwei, East Press, 1992,and Chinese Village Structure and Contemporary Vicissitude, East Press, 2002. 

In addition,he has published more than one hundred articles on the academic journals, for example,Folk Religion and Posters of boxes,in History Research, Feb.1983,Consciousness of boxes and Folk Belief,in Social Science of China, Mar.1991,Reflection on Trend of Thought in modern china,in Teaching and Research, Dec.1997,Elite Group in rural community:Union and Action,in History Research, Jan.2001,Three Topics on Oral History,Hebei Academic Journal, Jan.2002.
