Zhang Ming was born in 1957 in Shangyu,Zhengjiang, brought up in the Northeastern China and engaged as an agricultural worker and then a veterinarian. He got his doctorate in the Foreign and China's Political Ideology at the Renmin University of China (RUC) and now serves as a professor and doctors' tutor in School of International Studies at RUC.

Although entering the academic at a relatively elder age, Prof.Zhang Ming has published tens of papers and academic essays .His important monographs include Warlords' Dream to Administrate China, Eight Decades of Development in Rural Conception: the Variance of Farmers' Ideology in the Process of China's Modernization, Awakening and Transmuting: Meditation on the Century afer the 1898 Reform of China, Yihe Boxers and Church Members, The Structural Transmutation of Power and Cultural in Rural Community(1903-1953) and three other works. Prof.Zhang has also worked as co-editor for Celebrities' Pondering over the Cultural Revolution, A Century before  the Opening up to the Outside World and three other works. 

   张鸣，浙江上虞人，1957年生。长在北大荒，做过农工、兽医。中国人民大学中外政治思想专业博士研究生毕业。现为中国人民大学国际关系学院教授、博士生导师。

　本人进入学术较晚，先后发表论文数十，学术随笔数十。专著有《武夫治国梦》、《乡土心路八十年－－中国近代化过程农民意识的　变迁》、《梦醒与嬗变－－戊戌百年沉思》、《拳民与教民》、《乡村社会权力和文化结构的变迁（1903－19530》等8种。编著有《文革中的名人之思》、《百年春秋》等5种。
