Professor Karl Eikenberry from the Schwarzman College Visits the School of International Studies at Renmin University of China

On December 19, 2023, former U.S. Ambassador to Afghanistan and professor at the Schwarzman College at Tsinghua University, Karl Eikenberry, visited the School of International Studies at Renmin University of China. During his visit, he participated in a fruitful exchange with faculty members and students at the School of International Studies.

The event was moderated by Deputy Dean of the School of International Studies, Li Chen. Professors Shi Yinhong and Cui Shoujun, along with younger faculty members Ji Xianbai, Wu Di, Wang Zhaodong, as well as Assistant Professor Liu Yang from the School of Law, also participated in the discussions.

The two sides exchanged views on global security issues such as the situation in the Middle East, the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the United States’ Indo-Pacific strategy, and Sino-American cultural exchanges. A number of undergraduate and graduate students from the School of International Studies also took part in the exchange.
