Delegation from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore Visits Renmin University's School of International Studies
On the morning of November 7, 2025, a delegation from the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS) at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore visited Renmin University's School of International Studies. The delegation was led by Associate Professor Li Mingjiang, Deputy Dean of RSIS, and over 30 faculty and students from diverse backgrounds including China, Singapore, Austria, France, Malaysia, India, Pakistan, and the United Kingdom. Li Chen, Deputy Dean and Associate Professor of the School of International Studies, welcomed the delegation and introduced the School's developments in teaching, research, and international collaboration. He also delivered a special lecture on China-U.S. relations and the global order. The session, chaired by Deputy Dean Li Mingjiang, featured active discussions and exchanges following the presentation.

On October 24, 2023, Professor Joseph Nye, Harvard University Distinguished Service Professor and former Dean of the Harvard’s Kennedy School of Governance, visited SIS. Renmin-Yale Student Dialogue on Artificial Intelligence, Emerging Technologies, and U.S.-China Relations Successfully Held
In April 2023, two sessions of Renmin-Yale student dialogue on artificial intelligence, emerging technologies, and U.S.-China relations were successfully held. This event was a virtual collaboration between the Center for International Security and Strategy, School of International Studies, Renmin University of China and International Security Studies, Jackson School of Global Affairs, Yale University. Around 20 RUC students from School of International Studies, Gaoling School of Artificial Intelligence, School of Philosophy, School of History and School of Law and more than 20 Yale students majoring in Computer Science, Global Affairs, Economics and Statistics & Data Science, Management, Law and Psychology participated in the dialogue.

Third International Academic Forum on China and World Order Successfully Concluded
November 2022, the School of International Studies (SIS) organized the third international academic forum on China and the Global Order virtually. The event welcomed nearly 20 established experts and scholars from China and abroad who joined to discuss key issues relevant to global affairs. The keynote speeches were delivered by Professor Yang Guangbin, the Dean of SIS, Renmin University of China, and Zhang Baijia, the Former Deputy Director of the Party History Research Center of the CPC. Following the speeches, the scholars engaged in, deep and constructive discussions on the topic of China's Domestic Politics in the Next Five Years and China's Foreign Policies in the Next Five Years.

The Symposium on Covid-19 and the Future of American Democracy Successfully Held
On June 23, 2020, the School of International Studies (SIS) sponsored a symposium entitled “Covid-19 and the Future of American Democracy.” The Department of Political Science and the Center for Data Science at SIS co-organized the event. The symposium was co-moderated by Dr. Lu Jie, the Ye Chenghai Chair Professor of Political Science at SIS, and Dr. Chun Yunhan, a distinguished Professor of Political Science at Taiwan National University and a visiting Wu Yuzhang Chair professor at RUC. SIS had the privilege of inviting three leading American political scientists to participate in the symposium: Dr. John Aldrich, the Pfizer-Pratt University Professor of Political Science at Duke University, and a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences; Dr. Larry Diamond, a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University, and the founding co-editor of the Journal of Democracy; and Dr. Francis Fukuyama, the Olivia Nomellini Senior Fellow at the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies, and Professor by courtesy in the Department of Political Science at Stanford University. The symposium featured three rounds of discussions on American democracy, which involved the three professors and SIS-RUC faculty members. The symposium drew the participation of over 300 faculty members and students.

Delegation of National Defense University PLA China Visits SIS
On the afternoon of December 11, 2019, the 44th Defense and Strategic Study Class of the International College of Defense Studies at the National Defense University PLA China paid a visit to Renmin University of China. The delegation, comprising 116 senior military officers from 60 countries across five continents, and some teaching and research staff from the International College of Defense Studies at the National Defense University PLA China, were in attendance. Associate Professor Li Chen from SIS-RUC and Senior Colonel You Dongxiao from NDU co-hosted the exchange seminar. Following a warm welcome speech by Professor Yang Guangbin, the Dean of SIS, Professor Shi Yinhong delivered a lecture on the “Thucydides' trap,” while Professor Wu Riqiang discussed the current state of international nuclear arms control. Professor Zuo Xiying elucidated the Chinese conceptual shift in international order, and Professor Li Chen gave a brief introduction to the teaching and research on international security and strategy in ISIS and analyzed how the Chinese military adjusted to the changing strategic environment.

The Second International Academic Conference on China and World Order Held in SIS
From October 27 to 28, 2019, the School of International Studies (SIS) organized the second international academic conference on China and World Order. This conference brought together over thirty scholars and experts in the fields of political science and international relations from both domestic and international institutions. The attendees engaged in in-depth discussions and exchanged ideas on six key topics: The Evolution of World Order, Changing Perceptions of World Order, Global Governance in World Order, Trends in Regional Orders, China's Position and Role in World Order, and New Developments in World Order. The conference provided a platform for fruitful intellectual exchanges and contributed to a deeper understanding of global dynamics and China's role within the international community.

Representatives at Beijing Xianshan Forum Visit SIS
The 8th Beijing Xiangshan Forum, co-hosted by the China Association for Military Science (CAMS) and China Institute for International Strategic Studies (CIISS) was held from October 24 to 26, 2018. Some SIS faculty members were invited and delivered speeches and joined in the discussions in sessions of Security Situation in Northeast Asia and Sino-US Relations. After the forum, representatives like Taylor Fravel, Arthur and Ruth Sloan professor of political science at Massachusetts Institute of Technology; Liselotte Odgaard, research fellow at Danish Foreign Policy Society and associate professor at the Royal Danish Defence College; and Ariel Levite, former policy director in Israel Atomic Energy Commission, nonresident senior fellow of Nuclear Policy Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, USA paid a visit to SIS and exchanged ideas with faculty members in the Academic Workshop on International Security and Strategy at SIS and scholars from National Defense University PLA China, China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations and some other Chinese academic institutes located in Beijing on the issues including Asian-Pacific Security, Sino-US Relations, Nuclear Proliferation, Technology Competition and Middle-East situation.

The first International Academic Conference on China and World Order Held in SIS
The first international academic conference on China and World Order organized by SIS was held from June 18 to 19, 2018 in RUC. It attracted nearly 30 scholars from universities and research institutes at home and abroad. The scholars engaged in deep and constructive discussions on three topics of Challenges to Liberal International Order, Great Power Relations and International Order and the Future of World Order.
