Project Overview

The “China Studies Program” (CSP) is a collection of projects supported by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation. These projects include the “PhD in China Fellowship” and the “Joint Research PhD Fellowship.” Since 2013, the CSP has provided support to over 700 young sinologists, enabling them to pursue doctoral degrees or conduct academic research in China. In line with these initiatives, the Aspiring Doctoral Students Summer Camp has been developed as a short-term training program. It is specifically designed for young scholars who possess strong academic potential and a keen interest in sinology and China studies. The program aims to equip participants with language proficiency, cultural awareness, and research skills. It also seeks to foster a sense of community and collaboration among like-minded scholars.

Renmin University of China's School of International Studies (SIS) was among the pioneering institutions to introduce the study of international affairs and political science in China after the establishment of the People's Republic. Through ongoing efforts and innovation, SIS has emerged as a prominent academic institution with increasing international influence. It plays a leading role in talent cultivation and research on political science and international affairs in China.

The summer camp, with the theme of “Contemporary China Studies in Comparative and International Perspectives,” offers expert lectures, discussions, and academic guidance to help students better understand contemporary China. The program covers topics such as politics, economy, culture, and society, providing participants with a comprehensive understanding of China's dynamics. Moreover, it serves as a platform for cultural exchange among young individuals from around the world.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Aspiring Doctoral Students Summer Camp will be held online and will span a week in August.
