Dr. Ran is currently serving as an Associate Professor of Political Science at SIS in Renmin University of China. Her major research interests are Comparative Environmental Politics, Decentralization and Chinese Politics. She earned the Ph.D. from the University of Duisburg-Essen in 2009 and she pursued a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Southern California during 2009-2010. Dr. Ran has congtributed to various academic journals, including the Journal of Environmental Policy & Planning, China Quarterly, Journal of Cleaner Production. In 2015, she authored a book that systematically examined the paradox of the Environmental Policy Implementation Gap, employing the framework of “environmental authoritarianism.”
