Head of the Department of European & International Studies at King's College London Visits RUC School of International Studies

On April 3rd, 2025, Professor Ramon Pacheco, Head of the Department of European & International Studies at King's College London, visited the School of International Studies at Renmin University of China.

During this visit, Professor Pacheco held a seminar with students enrolled in the RUC-King's Double Masters in Asian and International Affairs. The seminar involved in-depth discussions with Deputy Dean Li Chen regarding future development plans for the joint program. This meeting was also attended by Associate Professor Ji Xianbai and Lian Chenchao.

During the seminar, all faculty members attending responded to students' inquiries regarding academic transition between the two schools and campus life at King's College London. The professors further expressed plans to organize Q&A sessions with student representatives of the program, with the aim of helping facilitate students' transition to their new academic life ahead.

Subsequently, Deputy Dean Li Chen and Professor Pacheco expressed mutual appreciation for the concerted efforts both institutions have devoted to this joint program over the past years, acknowledging the remarkable synergy demonstrated throughout the collaboration.The two sides engaged in extensive discussions regarding the future development of the Double Masters in Asian and International Affairs. Key outcomes included plans to expand faculty exchange programs between the two universities and enhance academic cooperation in European Studies and related fields.

The RUC-King's Double Masters in Asian & International Affairs was jointly established in September 2016 by the School of International Studies at Renmin University and the Department of European & International Relations at King's College London. The program features joint enrollment by both universities and delivers English-taught classes with both Chinese and international students studying together. Upon completing the degree awarding requirements of both institutions, students receive master's degrees from both universities.

The program aims to immerse students in two distinct cultural and academic environments, providing multiple perspectives for understanding and analyzing international issues in Europe, the Asia-Pacific region, and at the global level. It fosters critical and creative thinking while enhancing leadership and problem-solving capabilities in cross-cultural and transnational contexts.

To date, the program has enrolled over 60 international students from nearly 20 countries.
